Hello from Arles

and our artists' retreat

Happy Sunday!

Last night we had our welcome dinner here at the mansion in Arles, with our cooks giving us an incredible feast for the senses - all of the food bought that morning in the extensive market that on Saturday mornings feeds the whole town. Today, we begin; but in fact, we have already begun “coming to our senses” while meeting each other and tasting this delicious food. Smells, tastes, colors, the movements of people around us, music on street corners, the strange archaic presence of the immense Roman ruins in this town - it’s all here.

I’m not going to write more today, just send this photo of a sign I saw in the market yesterday that seemed to me to express the essence of what we will be doing during our time here.
